The Logical Forex NewsAlert Indicator communicates directly with our primary servers. Sometimes there will be connection issues that you may experience which will cause the indicators to be unable to update with the most current news.
So that you are not fooled into thinking there are "no news alerts", when the Logical Forex NewAlert is unable to update it’s calendar, it will show you pink boxes/squares on the right side of the chart…
When your chart shows Pink boxes…
The first thing to do is exit and restart NinjaTrader. Most connection issues are intermittent and will be resolved after a period of time by your Internet Service Provider. Give it some time, and then a restart of NinjaTrader will often make these pink boxes "go away".
Alternatively, you could try pressing F5 to refresh your chart, or even better, Right-Click on the chart, then select "Indicators" (or press Ctrl-I), and then click "OK" to reapply the indicators. If the connection problem has been resolved, the pink boxes will disappear.
If you want to trade yet you still are seeing the pink boxes, you can simply remove the Logical Forex NewsAlert indicator from the chart. If you do this, you might want to make sure you do NOT "Save Default Workspace" when you exit NinjaTrader as that would save the chart in such a way that when you restart NinjaTrader, your Logical Forex NewsAlert woudl be "missing".
Of course, if you ever "wonder" you can always just reapply the Logical Forex template to restore the standard setup. Just Right Click on the chart, then select "Templates…" then "Load" and choose the Logical Forex Trading Template.
